06:25 am: My PS2 is calling
After much thought and posting my two cents in the latest LJ_Biz post, I've decided the call of my PS2 is far more important.  I finally got my copy of FF VII back and I am going to finish it this time damn it, come hell, high water, or lack of caffeine.  If I don't post something in the next five days, you can assume I fell asleep on my PS2 while playing.

If anyone here cares, this is the link to the latest round of BS from LJ:  http://community.livejournal.com/lj_biz/242136.html

ETA: I'm taking a break from getting my butt kicked by the Midgar Zolom. I'm starting to wonder if getting Beta is worth the repeated butt kickings this early in the game.

09:52 pm: Ahhh! Damn it, I'm running out of bandaids!

**Rant Alert**

Dear Jackass Next Door,

The Fourth of July is a great holiday (one you used to get drunk and scatter beer cans burnt out fireworks all over my backyard) and I understand you're very patriotic.  However, it's not the Fourth now.  It's the SEVENTH!!!!   One more firecracker that scares the hell out of my cat and sends him running this way and climbing up my legs so Mommy can protect him is going to result in me calling the cops on you.  Put the beer away, give your loving, sane wife the matches, and GO SLEEP IT OFF!

Sincerely,

Pissed Off Neighbor

**End of Rant**

06:40 am: Calmer than yesterday, but...

Now that I'm not stuck in 'Oh God, I don't want to do this!' mode and researched for more than ten minutes what went on during the past couple of days and took some time to think, I'm a whole lot calmer but a bit more pissed off at the massive stupidity of people in general.  Specifically, I'm pissed off at the owners of LJ and their imitation of fanfiction.net when it's being stupid.  I'm also annoyed some moron who shall remain nameless who decided screaming FIRST! was an appropriate response to the apology post.   I'd also like the smack that woman from the vet's office, but I'll be the first to admit that's a completely emotional response that needs to be restrained.

I started posting here because ffnet has/had (I haven't heard about any account/story deletions lately that have no real reason behind them, but I haven't exactly been active at the Pit lately) the habit of deleting people's work without checking if the complaints are valid.  I wanted to be surprised LJ did the same, and I guess I was a tiny bit, but I'm really not.  People do rash things when their income is threatened, and a group of morons threatened LJ's source of income.

I'm a realist most of the time.  I'd like to think my refusal to renew my paid account would have an impact.  Realistically, I don't think it would.  I'm one person among millions.  A number of people are completely moving to other sites; I'm tempted to move to another site.  But I don't think it's going to be enough to make LJ realize how badly they screwed up, as they now have advertisers to back up our money.  They mess up again and more people leave, then they might have some idea.

Free speech is important, but it ends when one person threatens another, whether they're an adult or a child.  LJ attempted to curtail some of the more dangerous people using their site.  I commend them for that.  However, the way they went about it was extremely irresponsible.  Not only did they suspend/delete many innocent people's accounts/communities, they let the predators know what not to put in their profiles and to friend-lock their journals so others who stumble across them don't have the information they need to report them to LJ admin and/or the police.  For that, LJ's owners won the second place spot in the Darwin Dumbass Awards, internet only version.  First place is a tie between the morons who started this whole thing and the creators of FanLib.  LJ's owners also made the mistake of going to the media before us, but in the grand scheme of things that mistake is minor compared to the other, much bigger one.

With all that said, I am, for the moment, sticking around while posting at other sites as well.  I'm still going to use this site and post here, but I've also started journals at other sites to test them out and see which one I like best in case something like this happens again.  I may or may not renew my account here.  I find the ads annoying, but I'm also comfortable here.  Right now, it all depends on LJ's ability to learn from their mistakes and their ability to remember to research is necessary, so the next time a group of nutcases come along LJ knows better than to react from the gut.

07:07 am: Just in case and Nikki update
I'm sure everyone knows about LJ's recent stupidity.  Hell, I just signed on this morning for the first time in days and I found out how bad it was in under five minutes.  Some people are friend locking their journals in case these morons who went on a wide spread report spree try to come after their journals.  From what I understand, though I might be wrong, these people are hitting google and other search engines, searching for things on interests lists and reporting the LJs that they get.

While I'm cleaning out my interests list (not like there's anything particularly damning in there but my momma taught me never to underestimate stupid people in large groups), I'm not friend locking this thing.  Nothing I have here could be considered above an R, and I personally think that's pushing it.

However, just in case, I did get an account at Greatest Journal.  I'll upload everything there over the next week.  So if for some reason this thing disappears, my fics will soon be at  http://brennanight.greatestjournal.com/  There's nothing there now, but tomorrow or much later this afternoon there should be.

On a more personal note, I'm taking Nikki to the vet in a few minutes and having her put to sleep.  I still don't like it and my gut is screaming its wrong, but she's into much pain for me to be selfish.  I'd like to get back to everyone personally, but I don't think I'm going to be in the mood when I get home.  So thank you to everyone who helped me stop and think about everything clearly.

10:04 am: Real Life rears its ugly head, and fic progress update

I'm putting the first part here because I keep getting 'Are you stupid?' looks and various forms of "You do know she's like six hundred in dog years, right?" from my mom and friends for the past month and a half.  I really need to get a journal for RL stuff.  Feel free to skip it.  I just needed to get it off my chest without getting The Look.

Okay.  Okay...

Chapter Six of SE is roughly half done, but I might have to cut the latest bit and redo it as it's refusing to go the way I want it to.  This muse is occasionally taking trips to the future and binged on chocolate a couple of days ago, hence I have their first kiss written and some of the lead up, but not much extra stuff I can use for this chapter.

My muse for Snapshots is skipping through time again.  I have stuff for later, but the next snaphot is still in its rough outline form with bits and pieces.  Connections is doing the same thing, but I haven't been posting that in order to begin with, so there will be one from that verse later today, just not the follow up to 'A Furry Perspective' but something that comes earlier in the time line.  The follow up to Furry will be split into two pieces, I think, with one from each universe.

The immediate follow up to Unfulfilled Wishes is almost done, so that will be up tonight or tomorrow.  I also have another FF/HP bunny I'm posting right after this I most likely won't be touching again anytime soon.  If anyone feels the urge to play with it, go right on ahead.  Quite frankly, I'm disturbed by it.  It interests me, I just can't write it without getting the willies because of Side Effects.

I have a couple of little one shots in the works, one of them is a sequel to one of my fic reacts and is currently titled Living Family Portrait, that I'm working on.  I should have those up sometime in the next two weeks.

I think that's everything.  See guys in a few minutes.

08:57 am: Snow!?!

My backyard has snow!  My backyard has enough snow I can't see the grass.  It's great!  To some of you, it might not seem like a big deal, but to me it is.  We just don't get it down here often enough for my tastes.

My cat has never seen the stuff until this morning when I took him outside and put him down.  He just stood there, his little cat eyes big as they could get, before he turned and ran back in the house.  I think it finally broke Mr. Cuddles of his need to get outside so he can kick the neighborhood cat's butt.  The dog, ancient thing that she is, came out to play in it with me.  I'm sure we looked like a pair of idiots out there at the crack of freaking dawn, Nikki rolling around in it and me making mini snowballs for her to chase.  I almost wish we had enough of it so I could make real snowballs and have a snowball fight with some of my neighbors, but that's not going to happen.  Instead, we're getting ice starting around noon.  *pouts*

Now that I'm warm again, I'm off to go get my yearly dose of snow in before the ice starts.  I should be back later today with something, hopefully the next couple of snapshots.

See Ya!

03:10 am: Winter is NOT my season. Fall isn't either...
Suffice it to say, my life has once again gone wonky. In between my mother moving back to North Carolina, work stuff, the holidays, christmas shopping, my dog getting sick, and trying to keep up with daily life, I completely forgot I had a live journal--I completely forgot I have a life, too. The only reason I have a chance to get on-line today, stay on-line for a short while, and let everyone know what is going on is because my mom has the flu, and I'm putting everything else on hold so I can make sure she's okay. This happens to be one of my breaks in between hovering and emptying waste baskets of nasty tissues. Yeah, I know the flu isn't something to completely freak over, but after last winter, I panic easily and my mother's over fifty.

I will get back to everyone sometime today. I'll also get some fic related stuff up today, including the stuff I meant to put up months ago. I have a couple of newish things I may or may not put up depending on if I end up thinking they're decent, and if I can find all of the notebooks they're in.

This isn't meant as a whine or a bitch; I'm just tired and cranky. Thank you to everyone who reviewed and worried about me--I will get back to you guys today. I am sorry for disappearing on you guys again. This has just been weird time for me.

Edit: Now that I'm going through my email and reading it, I just wanted to say thanks to everyone and sorry for making people worry. I was going to say something else, but...Gah! I hate being tired. I can never get things out the way I want them.

05:29 pm: Busted AC and Procrastinating
My AC has once again breathed its last.

I get it fixed roughly once every two years, but I'm thinking of trying to tough it out this summer. The electric bill was only a hundred bucks last month, and when I think about the two hundred dollars a month it was last summer, well, the heat doesn't seem so bad. The downside is, it is humid as heck here, and that makes the heat worse.

What does this have to do with writing you ask? Well, the computer is in the den, and the den is next to the kitchen, making this the second hottest room in the house. I come in here, notebook in hand, to sit down and type up what I have and check my email, and I can almost feel my brain melting out of my ears. However, it's raining today and only like seventy five degrees right now, so I should get some stuff up tonight and finally respond to everyone. I'm also breaking down and ordering pizza later so I don't have to turn the stove on and ruin my nice cool room. That, and if I did turn it on, I think Nikki (my old, grumpy dog) would bite me (the only person she hasn't bitten yet) for heating up her wonderfully cool kitchen floor.

Thanks to everyone who's read Side Effects and reviewed it so far. After I finish typing up have I have of the AGP rewrite (which isn't getting reposted until it's completely done. Sorry to anyone who's waiting.), chapter three of SE will get typed up and edited, along with a few more Snapshots.
