CommentsXDDD *dies of cute* The thought of Harry and Hedwig and social grooming is just...*giggles* A bit though about feathers (because I'm obsessed with them)birds don't shed feathers, the molt them. Most birds will molt their feathers in a couple of weeks every year or two. So if a feather is broken it won't grow back until the next molt. Erm yeah. *coughs* (Reply to this) (Thread) *revives* Thanks! I did not know that. I'm copying that down into my odd info file for this fic. What about baby birds, chicks? Depends on the species, but usually they're covered in down to start with and then (depending on the life span of the birds' species) one or several juvenile molts before achieving its' adult plumage. their are other patterns that are followed by a few species, Bald eagles for instance never completely molt in one go. You can see some that have feathers that are several different lengths from several different molts. Making classification really damn annoying. It's been a while, but from what I remember we covered the basics of the animal kingdom, plant life, cells, and the only time we went in depth was during projects. For the little interesting bits like the ones you told me depended on who did the project or the teacher teaching the course. In my last basic bio course, the one I took for college, my professor was crazy about felines. I have a composition book somewhere full of stuff on cats. (Reply to this) (Parent) |
